DragonCon 2009 Link Compilation #5: Joe Flanigan, Jason Momoa, Rachel Luttrell, Paul McGillion, etc.
More stuff on Dragon*Con 2009, with Joe Flanigan, Jason Momoa, Rachel Luttrell, Paul McGillion, Ben Browder, Colin Cunningham, Claudia Black, Gary Jones…
More blog entries and videos – Oh, there are videos! Enjoy.
Paul McGillion is a favorite of mine. And when I told him I enjoyed his film A Dog’s Breakfast, with fellow Atlantis actor David Hewlett; he offered his latest short film The Woods for me to review on SciFiChick.com!
It was quite fun wandering around. I went to the Stargate Atlantis Panel, which turned into the Paul McGillion panel because the other three panellists (including Joe Flanigan) either missed flights or had a mix-up. Boo. But Paul McGillion was fun... everytime the chick in charge of the panel or a female questioner would be there he'd drop into his scottish accent, more on the randy side and would make comments like "sexy thing" and "hot mama" comments, it was awesome. Mmmm, scottish ;) I have pics of him to come later.
Know what’s awesome aboaut Dragon*Con?
Got to meet and hang out with Charlaine Harris at Stace’s party, where she was promptly enlisted by our hostess into busting my balls! That’s right, fun was had at my expense. Don’t worry none. I’m a big boy, I can take it. *sneers* Mike Mignola of Hellboy fame and Christopher Golden were there as well but were surrounded so didn’t get to chat with them much. Nice guys though. Tagged along and played photographer for Richelle on her quest to nab a picture with pretend celebrity boyfriend Joe Flanigan from Stargate SG-1 (or something, I don’t watch so…he was safe from fanboyishness, but not snide hairdo comments), I tried to frame it so I could also get a shot of Charisma Carpenter but alas, too grainy. That patch of blonde behind Richelle is Julie Benz of Darla and Dexter fame. Also, for Jeanne, here’s a shot of her very own pretend celeb boyfriend, James Marsters…
So after that I was up for the day, I ate some breakfast, and got ready, and waited for everyone else to get ready, since we were all basically going to the Stargate Atlantis panel at 11:30, everyone except Heather actually. Well we got there and Paul McGillion was doing it solo since Joe Flanigan missed his flight or something. Paul is such a schmoozer and ladies man! Super awesome and definitely entertaining! When they told him how much longer we had left, I swear the entire room went "Aww....". Here's the Youtube Clip of part 1, the rest are linked there too.
Highlights of Dragon*Con for me:
- Getting to see Joe Flanigan, Ben Browder and Colin Cunningham in person. (These are Stargate actors, for those who don't know.) They're all pretty. :)
- Getting to attend all the Stargate panels. The producers have really done an amazing job finding truly nice and pleasant people to fill out their casts. Every panel was full of laughter and teasing; even the traditional "Monday morning hangover panel." No surprise, it was Jason Mamoa who had the hangover, this year. All the audience questions started out with, "I have a three-part question for Jason." Then, "I have a six-part question for Jason." Etc.
- Ben Browder has very soft hands. (He must moisturize.) I was also pleased to be able to retain the power of speech while looking into his ice blue eyes. ::drool:: (Sadly, I never was able to make it to meet Joe Flanigan one-on-one to see if I became stupid in front of him.)
- Another picture with Paul McGillion. Such a sweet guy!
Of all the panels/people I really wanted to see, Farscape was my number one priority. Farscape is my favorite scifi show and one of the things I was most excited about in attending Dragon*con was that Ben Browder and Claudia Black were attending. Lani Tupu and Virginia Hey were bonuses. The panel was awesome. I loved the enthusiasm and clear affection they all have for the show and how touched they were that they still had so many fans. At one point, CB asked how many people had just started to watch Farscape in the last 3-4 years and they were astounded at how many people responded positively to that. BB thanked those of us who had been fans from the beginning for continuing to proselytize the show. A lot of nice questions were asked, especially about the acting, which was fun to hear, and the response their families/friends had to Farscape. Lots of affection for the show, their fellow actors, and their fans. VH and CB were very appreciative of BB's ass, as they went on and on about it for quite a while. A very nice panel.
I got a hug from Joe Flanigan! My life is now complete. (and what a cute photo she’s got on site!)
Here is a quick version of my weekend at Dragon*Con, as told through my photos. Thus be warned, this post is picture heavy.
Paul McGillion autograph
I visited Paul at the autograph area while still in my Janet costume - and he recognized who I was supposed to be, which made me very happy indeed!
Now that's a happy sandwich!
Saturday morning my first order of the day was a photo op with Joe Flanigan and Paul McGillion of Stargate Atlantis. Thus it was my very first person-to-person encounter with Joe. Fortunately, I didn't say or do anything stupid. Because, yeah, he really is as handsome up close as I thought he would be. *swoon*
All the Awesome celebs (BSG panel, Thyton and Ron Glass in the glass elevator, Jason Momoa pretending to puke on Artix…)
Wow, you can watch it from virtually every angle in the room J
It’s just like being there!!! Kudos to this wonderful fan for posting!
